I’ll miss your quiet ways and sense of humor. I’ll miss seeing you out in the yard, gardening, and hearing “take your time a going, but hurry back.” I’ll miss the smell of Old Spice and seeing you and mom sitting on the front porch together. I know that you are in a much better place now and when I’m sad, I think of that, and it takes away some of the pain. You were a great dad, the best that you could be and I was very blessed to be your daughter. I love you.
On Sunday, May 4th, my dad peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his family. All of us got to say our goodbyes and tell him how much we love him.

Well, I’m back again. Sorry that I keep disappearing like that. Things have been a little bit hectic with my dad being sick. He didn’t have the surgery after we talked to the surgeon about our, and my dad’s primary doctor’s, concern for making it through the operation. Instead, the surgeon finally sent my dad to an oncologist and a heart specialist, and has put the surgery on hold till he hears what the other doctors have to say.
The oncologist sounded very optimistic and seemed to think that they will be able to get the cancer with chemo. My dad has an appointment next Monday with him and I’m guessing that the doc will outline his chemo treatment then. The heart specialist said that all things consider, my dad’s heart is pretty good, but his lungs are really bad, so he should take into consideration everything, weigh it, and decide if surgery is worth the risk. It turns out that it’s a 5-6 hour operation and not the 2-3 hours we thought. The heart specialist has an echo, stress test and more blood tests set up for my dad for the next couple of weeks. I think that my dad will opt for the chemo though instead of surgery.

It finally started raining here late this afternoon. The weather forecasters have been talking about it since yesterday. Earlier this evening they issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area and said that a waterspout was seen off the coast. Also, there could be wind gusts over 60 mph. Well, there was rain and some wind…but no severe thunderstorms. I’m sure that to people from out of town, we must seem like babies. We have some rain and suddenly, there’s “Storm Watch” segments on the local news stations and rain is the leading story….lol. I am glad that we finally got some of the wet stuff though because we sure do need it and I really love the rain.

Eeeek! It’s a new year and again I’m off to a bad start with blogging. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and that your New year is off to a wonderful start.
Our little Kaylee turned a year old on the 13th of this month. Where does the time go? Her birthday party “theme” was the Disney Princess’ (of course) and it was at the park. The park is really pretty and has an island with a lake that surronds it. To get on the island you walk through a covered bridge. Once you’re on the island, there’s lots of 1776 looking buildings that the kids can run through and lots of places to climb in and out of. There’s also a little pretend ship that they can play on. Then tucked away in a corner of the island, there’s a secluded area that you can rent out for parties. It’s very private and the only way to get in it is through a big gate. Inside, there’s lots of tables and chairs, a barbeque pit and there’s even a small 1776 looking building with a refrigerator and lots of space to put everything. You can decorate the whole area however you like but of course you have to pick everything up when you’re done. One side of the area sits right on the lake so you can watch the ducks swim by and it’s so nice and relaxing there. We had a really great time!

Well, I can’t believe that it’s actually feeling a little “winterish” around here. Yay! Finally, I can bring out sweaters and/or jackets which helps me get into the Christmas mood. I love it when we have a cold Christmas. It’s just so hard to think about chestnuts roasting on an open fire or Jack Frost nipping at your nose when it’s 80 degrees outside. Hubby got the tree out today but it’s not decorated yet. I guess I’ll get to decorating that and the rest of the house sometime this week.

Things have been pretty quiet here which is a change…lol. Not much going on. Dana, Joshua and Kaylee were out last weekend but we didn’t get to see them much. They were gone most of Saturday doing shopping for birthday’s. Joshua’s mom and sister have a birthday this week so that side of the family had a brunch for the two of them on Sunday that Dana and Joshua went to. Then when they got back from that, we had cake and ice cream for Trever who’s birthday was Monday. He turned twenty-eight….sheesh….where does the time go???
Kaylee got her ears pierced and she looks adorable. Now no one will mistake her for a boy…lol. When she went treat or treating for Halloween this year, there were a couple of people who thought she was a boy! I don’t see how they could of got that wrong but they did. Now, there’s no excuse…lol.

I hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving had a wonderful day! Our Thanksgiving was the best ever! Joshua got home from Iraq exactly one week ago today! They got in around 9:00 pm and it’s so great to have him back home with Dana and Kaylee. I have pictures to share and as if there’s not enough of them in my post there’s a few more under Homecoming.
Dana was on pins and needles waiting for the busses and Kaylee was a real trooper! She stayed up for the whole thing which was amazing since she’s usually asleep every night by 7:30.
